Chinese company Huawei has focussed on the wearable sector at Mobile World Congress this year, hoping to become a "leader in the wearable space". Three wearable devices have been announced including a new Android Wear smartwatch, the TalkBand B2 and the TalkBad N1.

The TalkBand B2 is the successor to the TalkBand B1 activity tracker and Bluetooth headset device that was announced last year but the new model completely shakes things up in its design, opting for a "business-like professional" look rather than the plastic and chunky feel of the original.

A 0.73-inch PMOLED touch display sits within a brushed aluminium metal body that features a rubber ear piece on its rear. This body then slots in and out of a matching curved metal cradle that is secured to your arm via the leather or rubber strap, hiding the earpiece and Micro-USB charging port when it isn't being used as a Bluetooth headset.

The TalkBand B2 will recognise activities you partake in, whether that be walking, running, cycling or sleeping thanks to the 6-axis sensor but there is no heart rate sensor like some of its competitors. In terms of sleep tracking, it can detect the duration of light and deep sleep, and the TalkBand B2 will provide health tips on ways users can improve their sleep patterns.

It connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC, making pairing nice and simple with an NFC-compatible device and noise reduction technology, as well as a dual-microphone are on board. The TalkBand B2 also features smart detection technology that enables the it to know when the Bluetooth earpiece is in the wristband and when it isn't, directing calls from your smartphone accordingly.

There is a 90mAh battery capacity that Huawei claims will offer five days of regular use and the device itself is IP57 rated, meaning both water and dust resistant, but it's worth noting the leather strap is only IP55 rated.

The TalkBand N1 is claimed to be the industry's first Hi-Fi stereo and Bluetooth headset with the ability to play music stored on it, allow for Bluetooth calling and act as a fitness tracker. There is 4GB of storage on board, which Huawei says will be enough for around 1000 music files and the TalkBand N1 will sync via an app or USB.

Unlike the TalkBand B2, the N1 will only track basic movement when paired with a smartphone so it will tell you steps counted, distance walked and calories burned but it won't be able to distinguish between sports and there is no heart rate monitoring on board with this wearable either.

The earbuds of the TalkBand N1 clip together magnetically around your neck when you aren't using them, turning them into a necklace-like accessory and there is a 67mAh battery capacity for up to three days of regular use. The TalkBand N1 is IP54 rated and it has a function that broadcasts the names or phone numbers of incoming calls.

The TalkBand N1 also offers chamber tuning, along with a 20-20KHz frequency range and Bluetooth APTX technology is on board for CD quality sound, according to the company.

The TalkBand B2 comes in black, silver and gold colour options, while the TalkBand N1 is offered in gold, metallic grey and pink. Both wearables are compatible with iOS and Android devices but no pricing or release dates have been announced just yet.
