Acer has just unveiled a new line of kit at a launch event in New York, including the new Acer Iconia One 7 tablet and Acer Iconia Tab 7 tablet phone.

The Acer Iconia Tab 7 is primarily a 7-inch tablet but it comes 3G connected so can also makes calls, making it a large phablet really. It has a slim anodised silver metallic finish and is "comfortable to hold in one hand for web browsing or phone calls," says Acer. The Tab 7 comes with an IPS display that manages a 1280 x 800 resolution (on the HD model), dual cameras, and microSD. The Tab 7 HD comes with Android 4.4. KitKat OS while the Tab 7 comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which can be upgraded to KitKat 4.4.

The Acer Iconia One 7 is a 7-inch tablet with Intel dual-core processor and a 1280 x 800 resolution IPS screen that's in a video-friendly 16:10 ratio. The One 7 also comes with microSD expansion and both front and rear cameras. The One 7 will ship with Android 4.2 but can be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat. The Iconia One 7 should last 7 hours on a charge, according to Acer.

The Acer Iconia Tab 7 will cost €150, out at the end of May, and the Tab 7 HD will be €180 and be out early July. The Acer Iconia One 7 will cost €140 and be available from mid-May.
