Aimed at people “who want to balance form with function”, the latest Vaio line from Sony has been unveiled with some, but not all, specifications.
The notebooks come in a choice of black or white or – in a departure from the norm – “Wenge brown” which is supposed to blend in with wooden furniture. Indeed, the N Series was designed for the “culturally creative” person who is “focused on an organic lifestyle”, according to Mike Abary, VP of Vaio product marketing for Sony.
With Intel Core Duo processors optional, the new range promises a “roomy” hard drive, and comes Vista-ready.
Other features include a 15.4-inch widescreen display, a built-in DVD burner with DVDgate Plus software, two USB2.0 ports, an ExpressCard socket, a Memory Stick slot, and 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN.
The new series will be available starting at $1000 at the beginning of October.
