Samsung has announced that its Chromebook 2 laptop, announced at the beginning of March, will be coming to the UK in May.

The 11.6-inch model will be available at "selected retailers" from 1 May, while the 13.3-incher will go on sale on 12 May.

The new Samsung Chromebooks feature the company's proprietary Exynos 5 Octa-core processor, with the 11.6-inch version having a speed of 1.9GHz and the 13.3-inch model having 2.1GHz. They also differ in the amount of RAM on board: 2GB and 4GB respectively.

Both feature 16GB of flash memory and 720p HD embedded webcams, while the 11.6-inch Chromebook 2 has a 1366 x 768 LED display and the 13.3-inch version has a Full HD 1920 x 1080 LED display. Both, naturally, run Google's Chrome operating system.

The 11.5-inch device will be available in jet black and classic white, while the 13.3-inch Chromebook 2 will be available in luminous titan grey only.
