It's been a bumper day of launches from HP with two new EliteBook models - one of which is a tablet - and now an addition to the Compaq line-up.

The emphasis seems to be on affordability with this new range with prices starting at $999 (no news on UK pricing as yet).

The 4.07 pound HP Compaq 2230s Notebook PC offers a 12.1-inch diagonal widescreen display.

Connectivity wise - you get the Wi-Fi WLAN and integrated Bluetooth wireless technology.

And, to keep the machine safe when you're out and about, the 2230 includes HP 3D DriveGuard, which uses a three-axis accelerometer to detect sudden movement and "initiate protective action".

There are also in-built security features including HP ProtectTools Security Manager and Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools, which encodes information on the hard drive to make sensitive information unreadable if a notebook is lost or stolen.
