HP has come along with what looks to be a very competitive entry into the expanding Ultrabook market with its stylish, light-weight HP Folio 13.

The new formfactor of the Ultrabook tries to blend portability with power and this looks as though it's managed both along with a stylish look; however HP has also managed a very competitive price point as this will be selling for $900.

But what do you get for your hard-earned? Well the Folio 13 will get a Core i5-2467M, along with dual-core i7 versions incoming, a 128GB SSD, and 4GB of DDR3 memory for starters. Connectivity is taken care of by Ethernet, HDMI, USB 2.0 and 3.0, a memory card reader and an all-in-one mic/headphone port.

There's also a fancy backlit keyboard along with a 1366×768 resolution screen; a possible 9 hours of battery life should keep you going when on your travels. If size matters, and in the Ultrabook category it clearly does, then the HP weighs in at 1.5kg and is 18mm thick, not the slimmest but certainly couldn't be described as bulky.

So how does it compare to its rivals in the new Ultrabook catagory? Well pretty well really, and could be described as an excellent all-rounder. It's main rivals being the MacBook Air, Lenovo IdeaPad U300s, Asus Zenbooks and of course the Toshiba Portégé Z830. Have a click through and see what you think.

The HP Folio 13 will be available in the US from 7 December and we'll be waiting for this in the UK with some interest.
