On Thursday 6th September The Carphone Warehouse will "set free" a total of 200 brand-new Dell laptops in Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and Southampton.
Laptops will be dropped off at various city centre locations in bags with wings – with the fortunate finders becoming the lucky new owner of a computer complete with two year's worth of broadband.
Of course there's a reason behind the benevolence - it's all to promote their "free Dell laptop if you sign up to a £19.99 a month AOL Broadband for 2 years deal" promotion currently running in stores for the first 200,000 to sign on the dotted line.
The 200 observant people who nab the notebooks just need to visit their local Carphone Warehouse store and register their prize to start using it – they promise there are no hidden charges or costs.
The laptop, from Dell's Inspiron range, has an Intel Celeron 540 processor, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive, Microsoft Vista Home Basic Edition, a 15.4-inch wide screen, a DVD-RW 8x Optical Drive and Wi-Fi wireless capability.
Not bad for free - hit the mean streets of the cities mentioned above with your mincers peeled tomorrow and you could be the proud owner of one such device...
Hit a Carphone Warehouse shore and you will see the launch of "The Broadband Shop", a dedicated area in-store giving the choice of T-Mobile, Orange, Virgin Media, 3, TalkTalk and AOL Broadband.
The company say that customers will now receive impartial advice about broadband however it's delivered, whether it's via the phone line, cable or on the move.
