Dell today announced the Latitude D520, its newest notebook designed aimed at small businesses and educational establishments on a budget.

The new notebook, priced from £627, will sport a dual-core processor, a new industrial design, a durable magnesium alloy frame and a starting weight of 2.38kg as well as either a 14.1-inch or 15-inch displays and Wi-Fi networking capabilities.

Geared towards small business users, Dell is keen to promote the dual-battery configuration enabling all-day computing without the need for a recharge, and an integrated microphone for VoIP applications.

The unit also comes with integrated IEEE 1394 port and S-video ports and is Microsoft Windows Vista ready.

Technical Features of the Latitude D520 include the choice of Intel Core Duo processors combined with the Intel 945GM chipset or Intel Celeron M processors combined with the Intel 915GML chipset as well as 512MB to 4GB of DDR2 500/667MHz shared SDRAM.

Users will also be able to get a 40GB, 60GB, 80GB or 100GB hard drive for their new machine.
