Belkin has issued a voluntary recall of some Belkin Powerline Adaptors in Europe.
The company says it has identified a "small number" of Powerline products in Europe that do not comply with European specifications and were shipped to retailers in error.
Products affected are the Powerline Starter Kit (F5D4073), Powerline AV Starter Kit (F5D4074) and single Powerline Networking Adaptors (F5D4073S and F5D4074S).
The units don't meet the European Low Voltage Directive which means that the affected units "pose a potential risk of electric shock to the user".
Although the company says there is "minimal risk", it is "erring on the side of caution" and recalling all affected units with immediate effect.
The affected units were sold in Europe, including the UK, between October 2008 and February 2009.
Concerned customers can check their Powerline products by entering the serial number of their adaptor at www.belkin.com/productservices with further instructions on the site for the return process.
