We first laid our eyes on this über-stylish machine back in January over in Vegas at CES, and now the Asus NX90 has finally been given its official UK release.

If you're after a machine that offers you a bit of elegance, and stands out from all the other laptops available, but doesn't compromise on substance where it matters most, i.e. the hardware on board, then the NX90 could be right up your street.

Starting with the looks, because that is what first appeals when looking at the NX90, the mirror-like chassis is a result of a collaboration with David Lewis and Bang & Olufsen.

Lewis explained: "What we were going for was a piece of design and art that people could place in the centre of their home and take great joy in its appearance. To me, it’s not just a machine, the objective was to create a style to challenge the way people regard notebooks".

The display is an 18.4-inch full high definition LED backlit one and the speakers are described as being "on a par with full surround sound systems, thanks to the two larger-than-average speakers either side of the screen totalling 108cc".

There's also a dual touchpad that allows you to carry out two-handed motions and gestures.

Inside the machine, you've got all the latest components including a 1.73GHz Intel Core i7-740QM processor with Turbo Boost up to 2.93 GHz, 6-12GB of DDR3 RAM and graphics via Nvidia's GeForce GT 335M with 1GB of GDDR3 storage.

Storage is courtesy of two 640GB HDDs with a Blu-ray combo as an option. There's a 2-megapixel camera on board, and connectivity is via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a TV Tuner, a 5-in-1 card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports or a HDMI port.

The Asus NX90 doesn't come cheap - priced at £2499, it will be available soon from the likes of Harrods, Micro Anvika, Selfridges and Comet.
