According to the current blogosphere rumours, the much-fabled ultra-portable MacBook is closer than we've ever seen it and could possibly be announced at January's Macworld event.
About the right time then for a spy pic of such a small form factor device to hit the net. Enter GreenRabbit, a newcomer to the MacRumours forums with a mysterious image showing such a sub-laptop.
GreenRabbit, a San Fran resident who lists his/her kit as a "MacBook Pro 15-inch, iPhone, iPod nano and one more thing.." (in reference to Steve Jobs' famous phrase) gives no explanation for the image.
Scouring the image for clues, one of the books in the background is George Orwell's 1984, which could be seen as significant to those who know their Apple history, as this was the inspiration behind Ridley Scott's Macintosh advert shown during the Super Bowl XVIII in 1984 that marked the launch of the Mac PC.
The picture shows a small notebook that appears to have a wide, multi-touch trackpad, which fits with previous rumours, and does not appear to feature an optical drive.
The Macworld Expo starts on January 15th with Steve Jobs' keynote address, where if such a device is indeed real, and coming soon, will be announced.
