Apple, as expected, has announced today that its range of MacBook Pro notebook computers is now fitted with Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
Apple says that the new processors deliver performance that is up to 39% faster than the previous generation with 4MB of shared L2 cache. They also offer double the memory and greater storage capacity.
The MacBook pro delivers 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM memory expandable to up to 3GB, ATI Mobility radeon X1600 graphics with up to 256MB of dedicated GDDR3 graphics memory, as well as a double-layer SuperDrive.
Other specifications include built-in ethernet, AirPort Extreme, and Bluetooth 2.0, as well as a new FireWire 800 port and FireWire 400 port.
Prices start at £1350 for the 15-inch with 120GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, and 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor as standard; £1699 for the 15-inch with 2.33GHz processor and 2GB of memory; and £1899 for the 17-inch with 2.33GHz processor, 160GB hard drive, and 2GB of RAM.
