It's been almost a year since Apple launched a replacement program for iPhone 5 sleep/wake buttons, and now the company is following that up with a similar program just for faulty MacBook Pro laptops.
Apple has announced it will offer free repairs for MacBook Pros that have been affected by specific problems, including "distorted video, no video, or unexpected system restarts". The company said only a small percentage of MacBook Pros sold between February 2011 and December 2013 suffer from these issues, but now you can check if you own one.
Not only can you use Apple's Check your Coverage tool on the Apple Support site to determine if your MacBook Pro model matches the list of affected products, but you can choose a carry-in or mail-in option in order to get your MacBook Pro examined and eligible for repair. Apple said it will fix all affected MacBook Pros, free of charge.
Keep in mind that any MacBook Pros with prior damage, such as a cracked screen, will get a complete repair during service. Apple will also charge you for those extra repairs.
