Apple's latest ultra thin iMac desktops have a new member in the family, a more affordable, entry-level 21.5-inch iMac that starts at £899.

The latest iMac, at that £899 price, will come with a 1.4GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM. It can manage up to 2.7GHz with Turbo Boost and comes with Intel 5000 graphics.

There will be a 500GB serial ATA hard drive which can be upgraded to a 1TB drive for £40 more and there are 1TB Fusion or 256GB SSDs for £200. The 21.5-inch screen is still the usual 1920 x 1080 resolution with no word on Retina making it to the desktop range just yet.

On the connection side of things the iMac comes with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, two Thunderbolt ports and four USB 3.0 ports.

The iMac comes with an Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse. It also comes with the latest Mac OS X installed and ready to go meaning Mavericks for now and Yosemite when it's released.

The iMac is also available in a 27-inch model. The new iMac 21.5-inch is available now from £899.
