Apple has quietly killed off the 17-inch MacBook Pro, it seems. The larger sized notebook from the Cupertino-based company has disappeared from the online Apple store in the US and the UK.
The move coincides with the launch of the refreshed MacBook Pro models at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, and the launch of a new MacBook Pro with Retina display that promises vastly improved specs and screen resolution.
It is not clear why Apple has removed the 17-inch size from the company’s range, but it presumably feels the model is no longer needed in its more compact range.
Customers looking to go “big” are probably more than likely now be better off opting for the new Retina display model, which has a screen resolution of 2880 x 1800 - considerably more than the 1920 x 1200 resolution supported by the 17-inch model.
