Earlier on, Pocket-lint brought you news of the latest Apple rumour that was doing the rounds in webland, regarding two, brand spanking new, MacBook Airs that we expect to be announced at the Apple event on 20 October.

And already more details have emerged about these 11.6- and 13.3-inch machines, with a Cult of Mac source spilling the beans and a nice mock up picture also being knocked up as well.

The big news is, the new devices are going to be thinner and lighter than before, but will have 8-10 hours of battery life. The design is described as "boxier" with straight edges, rather than curves. There will be two USB ports as well as an SD card slot.

According to the CoM source, the new Airs are lightening fast. "It boots so fast, it’s unbelievable", he said. "It’s amazing how fast it boots up".

This is possibly due to a CPU upgrade, with two options said to be on the cards; a 2.1GHz one with 2GB of RAM or a 2.4 GHz one with 4GB of RAM. The RAM module is apparently upgradable as well, as is the SSD storage.

The source suggests a price of $999 for the 11.6-incher and around $1100 for the 13.3-inch one.

All will be revealed on 20 October. Until then, expect more leaked spec stories to do the rounds.
