Acer, as well as launching its new Veriton and Aspire One Pro machines, has also revamped its Travelmate Timeline series, now known as the "8000" range.

The company has focused on battery life for these business-focused laptops, and reckons that you'll get 8 hours out of one charge. That's if you don't do anything with it though - expect considerably less if you want to use Wi-Fi, stream video, etc.

The power adaptor's pretty nifty. It automatically shuts off when the battery is fully charged, which saves 66% of the power of a standard charger. Inside, there's low-power components, like the ultra-low-voltage Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Solo processors. There's also a low-power SSD option.

Screen sizes range from 13.3-inch to 15.6-inch. A Core 2 Solo option on the 13.3-inch display costs £580, with the Core 2 Duo option costing £680. At 14 inches, Solo is £600 and Duo is £700, while at 15.6 inches, Solo costs £610 and Duo is £710. There's no release date yet.
