Acer, as sponsor of Scuderia Ferrari, has released the Ferrari 5000 and Ferrari 1000 notebook computers.

They sport fetching carbon-fibre covers in glossy black, and are emblazoned with the Ferrari logo.

The 5000 and 1000 take over from their predecessors, the Ferrari 4000 and 3400. Both operate the latest dual-core AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology.

The 5000 model has a 15.4-inch screen, comes bundled with the Acer VoIP Bluetooth phone, and has a 1.3MP webcamera mounted to the top of the LCD panel. It offers WLAN, WPAN with built-in Bluetooth 2.0 module, LAN connection with Gigabit Ethernet cards, and standard 56K modem connectivity as well.

It offers up to 160GB of memory and the choice between a slot-loading DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive or the latest HD-DVD drive, and has an inbuilt card reader that supports five different memory card types.

The Ferrari 1000 is built for portability, weighing in at just 1.7kg. Its 12.5-inch CrystalBrite display features an ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 chipset that supports up to 512MB Hypermemory.
