With boasts of "a new era for netbooks" Acer has announced the launch of the Aspire One 532, a new 10.1-inch effort.

Seemingly aimed at pros, the Aspire One 532 gets Windows 7 Starter, the new Intel Atom N450 processor and the Mobile Intel NM10 Express Chipset, claims of 10 hours of battery life and the interesting inclusion of interchangeable AC converters for all you globe-trotters out there with a new, light wall-mounted design.

Less than 25mm thick, you're looking at adding about 1kg to your load with the 532 but you will get a 93% of standard-size keyboard, as well as a multi-gesture touchpad with an anti-slip micro-bead texture claiming to offer more precise control and "a pleasant feel".

The WSVGA, LED-backlit screen offers a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels in 16:9 format, while specs include up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, up to 250GB hard drive, a built-in multi-card reader, webcam and Wi-Fi with a 3G modem and Bluetooth offered as options.

Looks are said to be "sober" and "sophisticated", but we're unsure yet of how sobering the price tag is - we'll let you know when we do. UPDATE: Pricing is from £299.
