Medion has announced the launch of the Akoya P6618, a home entertainment laptop.

The new notebook comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz processor, as well as Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS graphics, 4GB memory and a 500GB hard drive.

The P6618 has a 16-inch, 16:9, TFT widescreen display that provides an HD resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, and an integrated sound system with two loudspeakers.

Other specs include an 8x multi-format DVD/CD writer, HDMI, wireless-N Wi-Fi (as well as b/g), Gigabit LAN, three USB ports, an integrated 4-in-1 memory card reader and an eSATA port.

A webcam with microphone, USB scroll mouse, keyboard with integrated numerical keypad and - somewhat essentially - an AC adapter is also provided.

The P6618 comes with Windows Vista Home Premium, a multimedia software suite, a 3-year warranty offering year round support at no extra cost and is priced at £599.99 due to be available from 30 April in some Aldi stores.
