PC World has launched a new range of laptops specifically designed for – and by – kids.

The new Advent K range of laptops is described as being built to a "sturdy, powerful and funky specification" and is inspired by focus groups with school children.

They feature interchangeable covers in a variety of colourful designs and a range of accessories.

All come with the PC World recent Children’s Charter commitment to configuring the laptops for safety.

An in-store TechGuy will set up the laptop in consultation with parents, free of charge at the point of purchase.

There are three models in the range. The two "premium" models, the K200 and the K300, come with Microsoft’s Encarta encyclopaedia software and integral webcams. The K300 comes with the Home and Student Edition of Microsoft’s Office suite.

The emphasis of the range is on education, security and style: "These new Advent K laptops are for kids only, we’re sure adults will find them attractive, but they’re not having them. Advent K is a kid’s thing."

"Seeing adults with the new K laptops would be a bit like seeing your dad dancing at the school disco." God forbid.
