HANNSG has announced a new range of "hard glass" monitors said to be "specifically designed to survive the labours of intense use as well as everyday wear and tear".

With a tough acrylic screen surface (so not technically glass, then) to shield the underlying sensitive panel, the displays can take a bit of abuse.

"We are one of the only LCD monitor manufacturers with the ability and expertise to deliver hard glass monitor solutions. It requires specialist production to ensure long term reliability", says Martin Kent of HANNSG UK Ltd.

Specs include 15000:1 contrast ratio, 235cdm2 brightness, a 1680 x 1050 resolution, a 5ms response time and a 170-degree viewing angle.

The monitors are due to be available in 19-inch and 22-inch sizes and will roll out in 2010 for £199 and £139.
