(Pocket-lint) - Steve May began his career as a music journalist, writing for weekly Sounds and Record Mirror, under the nom de plume Steve Keaton. His coverage of post punk music was cited in the 2015 British Library exhibition Terror and Wonder: The Gothic Imagination, as a seminal influence on the Goth music scene. Steve covered the early days of home computing and video games for IPC’s Big K magazine and 2000AD, before becoming the editor of What Video magazine, where he documented the first great format war (VHS vs Beta), and nascent developments in home cinema.
In the mid-nineties, Steve created and launched Home Cinema Choice magazine, still recognised as an authority in the field. Steve is a tech contributor to a wide number of consumer magazines and websites, including Pocket-lint, T3, TechRadar, Trusted Reviews, The Luxe Review, Louder and Ideal Home. He also reports for the trade in ERT magazine and covers the custom install scene as Editor of Inside CI.
Steve sits on a number of industry award panels and specialises in all aspects of AV, from Hi-Fi and home cinema to TVs and displays. In his spare time he likes to bag and board his extensive collection of comic books.
