Horizon Forbidden West review: Game of the year already?

The follow-up to Zero Dawn sees Aloy set off to the Forbidden West, continuing where the previous adventure set off. There's water mechanics now too. (image credit: Sony Interactive Entertainment)
Critically, however, Forbidden West doesn't forget its roots: this is a Horizon game through and through, but that's to its benefit. (image credit: Sony Interactive Entertainment)
The map is expansive and while the story will engulf you with interest, there's lots of action-RPG side missions to entertain too. (image credit: Sony Interactive Entertainment)
Aloy is superb, but the full acting cast sound superb and are wonderfully animated -- especially on the PlayStation 5 version (it's also available for PS4). (image credit: Sony Interactive Entertainment)
Similar to the original, but with great evolutions, Forbidden West already stands tall as contender for game of the year. A treat for PlayStation players! (image credit: Sony Interactive Entertainment)
