Battlefield 2042 review: The ultimate playground needs some polish

Battlefield 2042 takes us into the near-future for warfare that's recognizable but upgraded with extra tech. (image credit: Dice)
Its core mode has seven enormous maps to fight in, using vehicles on the ground and air, as well as a range of weapons. (image credit: Dice)
It all looks absolutely amazing, with beautiful environments that beg to explored, although some are a little bit empty in places. (image credit: Dice)
A new system ditches classes and replaces them with customizable Specialists, which we're not won over by, sadly.. (image credit: Dice)
However, with loads of custom servers on offer through the Portal mode, we think BF2042 has plenty of promise. The only way from here on out is up! (image credit: Dice)
