Further to yesterday's news post "Xbox 360 to get Blu-ray drive?", Gamerscoreblog, the site written by members of Microsoft's games global marketing team, have gone on blog record to say that they lurve HD DVD and wouldn’t dream of, nay, even consider, the "B" word.

In a post entitled, "Clearing the Air: In support of HD DVD" one Microsoft employee has stepped up to correct the recently rumours that claimed Microsoft were readying an external Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360.

The statement reads:

"Peter said Xbox 360 has the flexibility to adapt to consumers’ needs, allowing Microsoft to add features as consumers demand them - as evidenced by the offering of the HD DVD Player as an accessory.

It is important to understand the context in which that statement was made. We firmly stand behind the HD DVD format as the best choice for consumers.

Current reports indicating that Microsoft has a back-up plan, which includes Blu-ray support are incorrect. We’re fully committed to HD DVD and have absolutely no plans to support other optical formats."

We'll let the Microsoft disclaimer have the last word:

"Even though we do our best to make sure this information is accurate, the views and (sic) expressed by each employee are their own, and may not reflect the position of the company."
