A couple of weeks ago Pocket-lint reported that the movie based on the videogame Halo had lost the backing of Universal Studios and Fox, but the Microsoft and Peter Jackson’s production team were still committed to making the film.
In a statement made today, Microsoft wrote, “At this time Microsoft, Peter Jackson, and Fran Walsh have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game".
“While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait.”
It seems that the film won’t be released by 2008 as originally planned. In the statement that Microsoft made at the time when it was announced that Universal and Fox had pulled out of the project, the company wrote: “We are disappointed that Universal and Fox wanted to significantly renegotiate the financial points of the deal. But the Halo franchise is hugely popular and our goal remains the same – to find a partner that shares our passion and will creatively collaborate with us to best represent the story and spirit of the Halo franchise”.
