Sony has announced that it has updated the firmware for PlayStation 3 to 2.52.

Considering its only a 0.2 difference to the last update, you can tell the new firmware only features minor tweaks, that a post on the PlayStation blog said improved "playback quality of some PS3 format software."

Version 2.52 will also fix a text entry issue, that happens "when using the on-screen keyboard, USB keyboard or Bluetooth keyboard with some PS3 format software".

Despite the minor updates it is, as always, mandatory so next time you start up your PS3 to play, be sure to head over to the System Update area in the settings menu and get it. Of course, you can also get the update from PlayStation.com.

The last update, 2.5, made much larger changes, introducing Flash 9 support and power-save settings, as well as a screen grab function.
