Both Sony's PlayStation 3 and PSP have received firmware upgrades, which see the biggest changes to both systems since the summer launch of Trophies and the in-game XMB.

The PSP firmware is the biggest news out of the the two updates, now allowing gamers to download PSP games from a direct-access PSP Store, without the need to use a PC or PS3 to get the game onto the handheld.

Another nice addition for both is that the new firmware allows you to use your PSN account between both systems - for those lucky enough to own both of course.

You'll be able to get both firmware upgrades (version 2.5 for the PS3 and version 5.00 for the PSP) through the update menu on the consoles, or download them from PlayStation.com.
