Sony has finally announced that a dedicated PSP store is being developed.

At the moment, PSP owners access the PlayStation Store via a PS3 or PC, download any content they would like onto those machines and then transfer it to their console. If they don't own either of these, then they are pretty stuck when it comes to accessing any online content.

However, the new store will allow PSP owners to access it directly through a wireless internet connection.

As well as this, Sony has also announced a new PS3 infrastructure mode that will allow PSP owners to access online multiplayer modes through a PS3 that is connected to the net. Pretty handy. If you've got a PS3 of course.

The PSP Store is launching in Japan this autumn, but there's currently no news on a release date over here. More as and when we get it.
