A lot has changed since Sony first revealed Home at the Game Developers Conference in March of 2007, and the online social network has suffered a few delays in the meantime. But if you're starting to wonder whether you'll ever see the PlayStation 3's answer (and then some) to Xbox Live get a wide release, don't worry: Sony guarantees it'll be out this year. Guarantees.
The long-awaited Home is guaranteed to be here before the year is out, according to producer Martijn Van der Meulen.
The concept has been floating round for over a year now, so you wouldn't be alone if you were beginning to doubt if we were going to see a release this side of 2008, but Van der Meulen has said it is a "100% guarantee".
Now whether that is a full release remains to be seen. The public beta has even seen a delay pushing it back to autumn, so the likelihood of a full finished project before the end of the year is somewhat doubtful.
Still, Van der Meulen has also reconfirmed that Home will never have any fee associated with it, so no worries of a subscription fee. However, premium content such as clothing for your virtual self or furniture for your virtual living space will of course have to be paid for.
Any news we hear on release dates, we'll get straight to you.
