Sony plans to release an Ultimate Edition bundle containing a PlayStation 4 and PS Vita handheld console in time for Christmas.

The company is reported to be spending £2.5 million in the UK promoting the Vita, hoping to enforce the message that it is the ideal companion to the next-generation machine, with Remote Play being one of the big features.

Sony will start TV advertising for the PS Vita in the UK soon, showing the handheld's connectivity with the PS4, but also highlighting new augmented reality game Tearaway, which is getting critical acclaim from the gaming community.

"We're really excited for Vita as we move into Christmas," said senior product manager Ben Law.

"We've got a great campaign with key messaging around new releases like Tearaway, the ever-growing game catalogue and the Remote Play service."

No price details have been released for the bundle, but a picture was found in the latest print issue of MCV and scanned by website Videogamer. The exact release date is also not known yet, but it could be the only way to ensure you get a PlayStation 4 before Christmas.
