Sony had always said it would make a special game announcement during a Spike TV PS4 All Access launch extravaganza and it sure did. Alongside news that a single-player DLC extension to The Last of Us for PS3 is heading our way, the gaming giant unveiled a teaser trailer for a PlayStation 4 chapter of Uncharted.

Sony-specialist studio Naughty Dog has been flying since the first Uncharted came out for the PS3. In many ways it has become the prime exclusive franchise that has attracted many to consider getting the console in order to play it. Sony will hope that the next-generation sequel will do the same for PS4.

We don't see much in the teaser trailer, granted. But we do know that the voiceover in the brief clip was performed by famed American TV actor Todd Stashwick, who has appeared in just about every US series you can imagine, including Heroes and Curb Your Enthusiasm. He will be providing the voice of a major new character. And judging by what he says in the teaser, he's not going to be a good guy.

There is no release date attached to Uncharted at the moment, and we would be surprised if it were ready before this time next year, perhaps even later. But we cannot wait, especially as Naughty Dog promises to make use of the PS4's talents, not just port a PS3-style experience over.

"Our goal is to continue what we’ve done in previous console generations and once again deliver the best in storytelling, performance capture, technical innovation and graphics on the PS4," it said.
