David Cage of Quantic Dream, the developer behind Heavy Rain and other titles, has given us a glimpse of what games will look like on the PlayStation 4 in the future, but sadly not for launch.

The developer detailed how, over the history of the PlayStation, graphics have got better and better with the company's latest game Beyond having characters made up of 30,000 polygons. The new future demo of an old man's face will have more. How many more wasn't detailed.

"We can concentrate on what amazing stories we want to tell and what incredible worlds we want to create," Cage said. "We can take you to places you have never seen before and make you feel emotions that you have never felt in real life, without having to wonder if we will have the horsepower to do so. We are now limited only by our imagination."

But judging by the photos we took of the demo the Sony PlayStation 4 has plenty of growth in it, with the console capable of recreating huge levels of detail, including reflections in the eyes - something Cage seemed very excited about.

Sadly, Cage didn't tell us when graphics of this standard would be coming to the new console.
