Wii gamers can rest well tonight. MTV Games has confirmed that downloadable songs will be available on the Wii version of Rock Band 2 in the future.

However, while Nintendo's console will be getting the same treatment as the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the PS2 will not be so lucky and will be confined to the songs featured on the game itself.

As for DLC for Wii though, it's still somewhat of a conundrum how MTV and Harmonix plan to work around the limited storage capabilities of Nintendo's system. Activision currently makes do with SD cards for Guitar Hero World Tour DLC, but it has to be said - it is far from ideal. Whether they are planning the same, or know something more about the future of Wii storage, we'll have to wait and see.

It doesn't seem like gamers can expect to see Rock Band 1 songs as DLC, as MTV Games has confirmed that the discs will be available "indefinitely". Of course, as we previous reported, Rock Band 1 songs can be transferred to the new game for a small fee.

And while we still wait on a release date, US gamers are rocking out as Rock Band 2 was released on Xbox 360 in the US earlier this month. Other versions for the PS3, PS2 and Wii are thought to be available before the end of the year. Read as well in time for Christmas.
