If Nintendo hadn't shown off Zelda for Wii U at this year's E3 expo in Los Angeles then not only would we have cried buckets, but it would have been the final nail in the coffin for Nintendo's console.

But the Japanese company stepped up to the plate and showed a glimpse of the title, which promises to be a vast open-world that ditches the linear pathway of play of its predecessors.

Shown as a peaceful and expansive world, we're introduced to Link on his horse. Then out of nowhere a giant laser-shooting enemy comes chasing him down. We see Link's classic bow and arrow weapon as he shoots back before the screen fades to white.

The conclusion? You'll need to wait until 2015 to get your mitts on the game. Which strikes a bit of fear into our hearts: like Panzer Dragoon was to the Sega Saturn, perhaps Zelda Wii U will be to its respective console. But we don't care, because as big fans we think it looks ace.
