Nintendo isn't just about new software at this year's E3. Using its Nintendo E3 live stream Reggie Fils-Aime, the USA CEO, also unveiled Amiibo - the company's answer to Disney Infinity.
Amiibo are physical characters that can connect via the Wii U Gamepad to transmit data into games. Fils-Aime, pictured, is shown with a Mario Amiibo, which will first be compatible with Super Smash Bros Wii U and later with other titles, including Mario Kart 8 and more.
But with Wii U sales suffering, is now the time to be focusing on physicals? No final word on how much they'll cost or how many characters - we've seen Mario and Metroid thus far - will be available at this stage in time.
