Nintendo is to cut the price of the Wii on both sides of the pond with UK gamers, from 20 May, able to save £50 on the current price.

And what's more - Nintendo will be throwing in one of the best Wii games, Mario Kart, into the £129 bundle.

The £129 price should also be in place for the Wii Sports Resort pack, which currently sells for around £179.

That £179 price-tag has been with the Wii since it first landed on UK shores back in 2006, and surely signals that Nintendo is looking to get rid of the stock before the introduction of the console's successor in 2012.

In the States, the price will drop to $149.99 - with the price drop kicking in on 15 May. Again, Mario Kart will be on board and gamers will have a choice between the black and the white machines.

Nintendo will also be releasing a group of Nintendo Selects titles (think PlayStation Platinum) prices at $19.99 Stateside and £19 in the UK.

This group includes Wii Sports, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Mario Strikers Charged Football, Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
