Atari have announced that Asterix at the Olympic Games will be coming to Xbox 360 this summer.
The game is based on the film of the same name which came out last summer. There are already game versions available for PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, Wii and PC, but the summer release will see the game's first appearence on a next-gen console.
Promising "impressively detailed and vibrant High Definition graphics and multiplayer action", the game blends live action elements from the film with animation - all in HD.
Developed by Etranges Libellules in close collaboration with Asterix licensor Les Editions Albert René and film production company La Petite Reine, the game follows Asterix, Obelix and their devoted druid Getafix as they travel to Olympia to help their love-sick friend Lovestorix win the heart of the Grecian Princess Irina and stop mighty Brutus from destroying the world. Basically.
You can choose to play as either Asterix or Obelix and switch between them throughout the game as you encounter physical challenges and puzzles to solve.
Over 14.6 million people across Europe saw the feature film Asterix at the Olympic Games at the cinema, and now the new enhanced Xbox 360 version of Asterix at the Olympic Games will be released at the same time as the feature film’s DVD launch.
No specific date has been released as yet, but it is expected sometime during the summer.
