It seems that in just a matter of days Fortnite's season 8 will release and will feature a pirate-based theme.
A teaser on the game's official Twitter account has dropped some rather unsubtle hints.
- What is Fortnite Battle Royale? How does it work and what devices can you play it on?
- What parents need to know about Fortnite
"X Marks The Spot, treasure abound. Loot that has been lost, can always be found. 4 days to Season 8"

The accompanying image of a pirate's hook leaves little to the imagination, though we're left wondering what these clues will actually mean. Will the Battlebus be replaced by a pirate galleon? Will there be buried treasure to hunt for?
The very idea of a pirate theme has certainly got us daydreaming about what a Sea of Thieves Battle Royale would be like if nothing else.
In an unprecedented move, Epic games have also set "overtime challenges" that will grant players the Season 8 Battle Pass for free if completed in time. Players will have until 27 February to complete 13 tasks within those challenges in order to acquire it for free. We can't help but think this change of tactic is designed to keep Fortnite interesting and compete against the ever-growing popularity of Apex Legends.

Season 8 will begin in just a few days - kicking off 28 February - so we won't have long to find out what's happening.
