Normally when one thing copies another it annoys us. In this case when a well-established game maker, Rovio, riffs off a classic racing game, Mario Kart, we can only feel excitement about how good this could be.

The racing game sees those upset winged-ones pitted against the green swine, all behind the wheels of downhill racing karts. Expect unique special powers for each character and a fully rendered 3D world to enjoy them in. Check out the gameplay trailer to see what we mean.

All that and it's free to play. The cars range from homemade soapbox racers to super-fly cars achieved by upgrading along the way - we're guessing that will be where the money is made. Head-to-head racing on myriad tracks should keep you busy when this lands on 11 December.

Angry Birds Go! will be available for iPhone and iPad, Android, Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry 10 on its release.

"December 11 is just the beginning," says the Rovio blog. "We have huge plans for our first ever racing game and we can’t wait to see what you guys think."
