Microsoft has confirmed that gamers will be able to play the role of Master Chief once again when Halo 4 gets its official release around the world on 6 November.

Set four years after the events in Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe.

“We are beginning a new saga with Halo 4 and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of Halo games and experiences,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice-president of Microsoft Studios, teasing that this won't be perhaps the last Halo we will see.

Aside from the date on which the game will be available, Microsoft is still keeping fairly quiet about the gameplay and what we can expect.

Expect more news at the annual gaming convention, E3, in the summer.
