Activision has chosen the forthcoming GAMEfest convention for a first public unveiling of a playable version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Visitors to the inaugural show, organised by UK and European videogames retailer GAME and held at Birmingham's NEC on 16-18 September, will be able to get their own hands-on experience with one of the most sought after titles of the year.

GAMEfest has already previously confirmed that, thanks to a large presence by Sony Computer Entertainment, that it will feature publicly playable versions of Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3, but this latest exclusive is a real coup.

Speaking about Activision's involvement, Anna-Marie Mason, marketing director at GAME said: “We are delighted that GAMEfest attendees can be the first consumers in the UK to have the opportunity to get hands-on with Modern Warfare 3 before it releases to the world."

GAMEfest 2011 is a public event, but visitors will need to be valid GAME Reward Card owners (which is free to sign up to). Tickets are available from £5. Find out more at
