TomTom the GPS maker has updated its entry-level GPS unit, the TomTom One. The new model, announced at IFA 2006 in Berlin, Germany will cost £199 and offer a basic slimmed down package of its 510, 710 and 910 models.
The company has said it will offer the GPS unit in two variants in the UK. TomTom One Regional, which will feature just UK maps and TomTom One Europe, which will feature all European maps for £249.
As well as updating the software and lowering the price, the company has also reduced the overall size of the unit to just 96mm x 82mm x 25mm and a weight of just 174grams.
The new model also features the new SIRF III chipset and an SD card slot for loading on more maps if needed.
In related news, TomTom has also announced a new version of its Navigator software package for PDAs. New key features include the ability to have nagivation data stored in your address book and notification alerts when you are speeding.
