TomTom’s navigation app for the iPhone and iPad has been updated - and it’s good news for Foursquare fans.

The location-based social networking service has been integrated into the TomTom app – joining Facebook - with the v.1.11 update enabling users to search for and then navigate to their favourite places. On arrival they will be able to “check-in” to locations and collect points as they would through the designated Foursquare app.

The TomTom update will also now enable users to copy addresses found on the internet via their iPhone or iPad’s browser before pasting them into the TomTom app’s search bar.

If you're planning a trip to France, the TomTom navigation app will now alert you to certified Danger Zones within the country. This is a roundabout, though perfectly legal way of alerting drivers to areas that are likely to contain speed cameras, after new laws were passed against camera alerts.

The app update is available free to current TomTom iPhone and iPad users, or it can be purchased new for £49.99 from the Apple App Store.
