Fresh from announcing its tie-in with RIM to supply the BlackBerry manufacturer with proprietary technologies to use on its apps, TomTom has now launched its largest screen-sized satnav yet. The TomTom Start 60 is fronted with a 6-inch touchscreen - a beast in the world of satellite navigation systems.

As the real estate is so plentiful, the buttons and menu systems are much easier to manipulate when on the move. The new device also comes with a new dual mounting system for attaching it to the dashboard as well as the windscreen, if you're worried that it might take up too much space.

The TomTom Start 60 is also one of the first of the manufacturer's devices to offer lifetime free daily map changes. Updates are based on reports from TomTom’s Map Share community of 21 million, so will help with certain conditions such as speed limit changes and blocked roads.

Other features include advanced lane guidance, improved IQ Routes, spoken street names, parking assist and frequent destinations. And the Start 60 comes with maps for 45 European countries pre-installed.

The TomTom Start 60 costs £169.99 and is available now.
