As part of Las Vegas’ 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, GPS giant TomTom announced its newest product in its line of navigation solutions in the USA; the TomTom Go 2505 M Live. The GPS navigator, $349, is TomTom’s first unit to come fully loaded with real-time HD Traffic capabilities for instant and continuous routing.

Powered by AT&T’s wireless network, the TomTom Go 2505 M Live includes features like Google local, fuel prices, and weather forecasts and will be available with a trial monthly subscription out-of-the-box.

HD Traffic is a significant development in the world of GPS navigation because it allows drivers to access real-time traffic alerts and local attractions in a way like never before. When it comes to GPS navigation, the most basic units predict fastest routes based on speed limits and mileage to destination. Newer units pull from historical traffic patterns, noting that taking I-95 on a typical Friday night in 5pm gridlock might not be the fastest route. TomTom HD Traffic is the first solution to draw from real-time data, to give you truly the fastest, best route. Maybe I-95 is running completely smoothly this Friday night, and if it is, the TomTom Go 2505 will know because it scans traffic details every two minutes.

“As the world’s leading provider of navigation solutions, we are excited to introduce the next generation of live connected devices to our product line-up,” says Tim Roper, president of TomTom, Inc. “The addition of TomTom HD traffic to our LIVE services offering represents a revolution in real-time traffic information that will further empower our consumers with superior driving intelligence.”

Aside from HD Traffic, the TomTom Go 2505 M Live will include Voice Recognition Bluetooth hands-free calling so users can call out an address and the unit will understand.

The same hardware and graphics as the newer TomTom 2405 and the TomTom 2505 models, this unit similarly features improved graphics and a capacitive touch screen similar to the iPhone with pinch-to-zoom and swipe screen gestures. The click-and-lock magnetic mount is also worth noting for the ease of installation and removal.

The TomTom GO 2505 M Live will be available at retail stores and from online retailers in mid-2011 for $349 MSRP. A trial subscription of  Live services will be available for free with each purchase.
