Sony has announced a new curvy MP3 player called the WALKMAN Bean. The new flash based player will come in a range of bright and funky colours (black, white, blue, and pink) and is capable of storing up to 700 songs on the top of the range model.

Sony is also promising 50 hours of battery life from a single charge and the ability to offer 3 hours of playback after just 3 minutes of charge.

The new WAKMAN Bean will be in stores from September in both 512Mb and 1Gb storage capacities.

Each of the WALKMAN Bean players features a pop-up USB jack, allowing users to plug it directly into their PCs, cable-free.

When listening to music, track and album information is navigated using Sony's ‘jog shuffle' controls and can be viewed on a bright 1-line organic LED display.

The WALKMAN Bean range can playback both ATRAC3plus and MP3 files and ship with SonicStage 3.2 music management PC software.

The players will cost £79 and £99 respectively.
