Philips unveiled its new top-of-the range GoGear personal media player at its press event in Lisbon today, called the GoGear Opus.

Packing an impressive 2.8-inch QVGA screen, the Opus adds on some extra functionality to the also-announced Ariaz.

To begin with, the Opus is the largest PMP in the GoGear range - but remains thin and lightweight.

It provides the benefits of "FullSound" technology, combined with HD sound isolation headphones, meaning the sound is much louder and clearer.

Other features of the Opus include Bluetooth stereo audio output, easy download of open source videos using the included software, FM radio and a microphone for voice and radio recording.

The Opus also supports BBC iPlayer for watching back your favourite BBC shows.

The GoGear Opus will be available in April in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities. European prices have been announced at 99 euros, 147 euros and 179 euros respectively.
