Following its CES launch, Panasonic has announced the launch - and price - of its portable Blu-ray player in the States.

The DMP-B15, that raised eyebrows at launch over the thought of a portable BD-capable player with an 8.9-inch screen, will go on sale for more than most decent standalone, non-portable Blu-ray offerings, priced at $799.95, around £487.

With HDMI for hooking up to an HDTV for the full fat high-definition experience, the B15 also gets an SD card slot and Panasonic's VIERA CAST internet accessibility and BD-Live functionality.

The player offers a 2.5-hour rechargeable battery, optional car headset mounts and will hit shop shelves this month. We're waiting to hear on UK launch plans.

UPDATE: UK pricing has now been confirmed, and you're looking at a RRP of £599.99 with stock expected "shortly".
